Silphium integrifolium - Rosinweed

Asteracea Family - "Rosinweed"

Silphium is an ancient Greek term for "resinous juices". Integrifolium is the latin word meaning "with entire or uncut leaves".

Found throughout the tallgrass Prairie region and south on mesic prairies. Bright yellow flowers bloom from June through August. Leaves are joined at the stem similar to S. perfoliatum. Generally 4 to 5 feet in height.

No medicinal or food uses reported for S. integrifolium.
